Above are some pictures of Lynn doing some welding on a Motorbike Crank Case, these pics were taken for a Magazine. We found an old scrap Yamaha Motorbike Crank Case, then we used an Angle Grinder to make a cut into it. We then welded it up using standard 4043 Aluminium TIG Welding Rod. We stopped short off finishing the weld so you can clearly see that its the same repair, and then roughly ground it down with the same angle grinder. Note this was done outside in the breeze with no pre-cleaning of the job. You will also see one of the pic's is of the underside of the weld, notice it does not collapse, and gives an Oil & pressure tight seal tight seal.
