What makes the DHC 2000 so special?
The DHC 2000 Torch was originally invented by Eddie Dillon an Australian Inventor who, realising that the conventional oxy/acetylene torch has a very wide heat spread, which heavily distorts the material as well as wasting huge amounts of gas, decided to redesign it. As he progressed with the invention other advantages with the DHC 2000 became apparent such as its ability to compete with MIG & TIG.
The conventional Oxy/Acetylene torch relies on swaged tips which roughly mix the gas after leaving the tip & over the work using centrifugal force. This causes the heat to disperse over a large area and combined with high velocity creates a whirlpool effect which sucks in large amounts of unwanted atmospheric oxygen , and this unchangeable process makes it extremely difficult to weld without oxidization, large amounts of distortion, or even total collapse, particularly in thin materials (e.g. Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Panel Steel etc.,) See diagram below.

The DHC 2000 Torch is totally the opposite, it has a precision mixing chamber inside the hand piece which mixes the gases at equal low pressure and low velocity before leaving the tip, resulting in an extremely narrow concentrated heat affected zone. (See diagram below)

Because of this, as there is now no whirlpool effect at all, virtually nil atmospheric oxygen is sucked into the weld area creating an oxygen free environment similar to the inert gas shield around a MIG or TIG Welder.

So, to recap
CONVENTIONAL TORCH Wide heat spread. Huge amount of free oxygen in weld area.
DHC 2000 Narrow heat spread. Virtually nil free oxygen in weld area.
TIG/MIG Narrow heat spread. Virtually nil free oxygen in weld area.
The TIG/MIG however gets rid of the free Oxygen by displacing it with an inert gas, the DHC 2000 Torch gets rid of it by consuming it as part of its fuel, so it works like a TIG Welder 10 or even 20 times the cost. Now how clever is that!!
Eddie Dillon the Inventor, won the Australian Design Award for the Torch (then called The Dillon) which was heavily tested by a number of World Authorities including The European Nuclear Research Centre in Geneva and the Swiss Welding Assn. who confirm that all welds are as strong as TIG (see synopsis of test results).
